I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry. I spent one year in an Americorps program called City Year in which I tutored/mentored at risk youth in an Algebra 1 intensive class in Miami, FL. I am currently in school to get by masters in education so I may teach chemistry. Anatomy is one of my top subjects!

I do my best to adapt to how the student learns most efficiently. I also greatly encourage for the student to speak during tutoring sessions; rather than I do all the talking, I believe it is greatly beneficial for the student to partake in discussions and ask questions. I also do my best to incorporate hands-on activities with students. Unfortunately, I've found that many people find science to be intimidating and difficult. It is my goal to show students that science is, in fact, extremely interesting and fun. I wish to make it as engaging as possible to spark a students interest, captivate them, and make them curious about the scientific world.

Everyone learns differently. I think by involving as many of your senses you are able to learn and retain information better. Teaching information and giving examples that are relavent to the student's life and experiences help teach the student that learning is important.The advances in technology and utilizing these resources are very important. Computer animation and pictures are amazing tools for any student, especially students that learn visually. The education system is going in the right direction by thinking outside the box.
