Having struggled through four years of attempting to learn chemistry at the undergraduate level, listening to “inarticulate though erudite” lectures on various topics in chemistry in the dank, damp, hallowed halls of the University of Paisley, I was determined to redress the balance in favor of the student. My ideas on education have not changed much since those early days, though perhaps now I am better qualified to express these sentiments in line with stated educational theory. What I knew then intuitively, and dealt with likewise, I can now begin to better explain in a more formal language, learned, in the most part, as a Postgraduate student at Jordanhill College of Education.
