While I was in college, I was a nanny/ tutor for two girls- ages eight and nine for two years. Soon after, I spent two years as a paraprofessional, working one-on-one with emotionally disturbed and behavior disorder students ages twelve to eighteen. At Emporia State University I student taught in Kansas City, Kansas elementary schools for a full year and graduated with honors. Currently, I am a substitute teacher in Kansas City waiting for a full time position this fall. My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature.

I taught college students computer science and applications courses at Sanford Brown College and National College. I taught 7th grade English as a second language for the Kansas City School District. I was also a substitute teacher.
