Mike A. - Roanoke, VA 24015 (54.1 mi) - Computer Programming Tutor - $55.00/hr.
I am an expert at Computer Programming. I know several programming languages, both interpreted and compiled (including assembly language), as well as almost all of the basic and advanced algorithms. From control structures and loops, methods/procedures, sorting, stacks and queues, arrays and lists, objects, object extensibility, pass by value or reference, writing to and reading from standard input and output devices like keyboard, screen, and files, you name it. I've seen the concept before. Even if you're working with a programming language I haven't worked with before, I can still help you, because a programming language is just a set of rules, structures, a grammar, and a syntax. It is easy to learn any programming language. Your first hour of tutoring is free (even if you don't continue) so that you can see how much tutoring is really going to help you. So, let's get started soon! I

Laura B - Charleston, WV 25311-2020 (47.7 mi) - Computer Programming Tutor - $38.50/hr.
I am a very patient person who understands that the best way to teach someone anything is to find out how they learn. My goal is to help others be confident about what they do know and to not be afraid to ask questions about what they don't know. If I can't teach someone anything, I will find someone who can. I will attempt to tutor from any angle necessary so that my student has the opportunity to be successul at their struggling subject matter. I will always be very supportive through the learning process and available anytime of the day or night for questions and immediate assistance. As a child, I entered the gifted program very young and have always tutored my peers. Tutoring led me to join the Quiz Bowl and other Academic Teams as well as led me to graduate high school early. I have tutored everything from Accounting to Chemistry to Mathematics to Finance to Anatomy/Physiolog

Matthew M - Charleston, WV 25302 (49.9 mi) - Computer Programming Tutor - $36.00/hr.
Math is learned by doing, but in attempting to do something you haven't really learned yet you're probably going to get stuck. A math tutor's job is to get you unstuck (or in some cases get you started). Sometimes that's just pointing out mistakes, and sometimes there's a weak spot in your background that needs cleared up before you can go any further. It's not easy, but I think anyone can learn math, even advanced math, but you have to start with a solid foundation. My teaching approach for other subjects is somewhat different, but still mostly consists of alternating between explaining/demonstrating and assisted practice. I have earned two bachelor degrees from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science. I received an A in every math class that I took including but not limited to statistics, linear algebra, multi-variable calculus
