I integrate as many subjects as possible and seek to provide the missing schema, background experience and knowledge, that is critical to learning to a true state of understanding and mastery. Every subject is interesting to a child who can understand it and apply it. Through an understanding of social styles, learning styles,multiple intelligences and the best of brain-based research, I provide that experience to every student.
My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1. I have worked with students of all ages in a variety of scenarios, but my most recent experience is teaching as an adjunct professor at Eastern Washington University. My course was "History 110: The American Experience." I had 52 students and we met Monday through Friday. I received excellent reviews and several of my students wrote to me or came to my office to tell me that I helped make history interesting for the first time.
