My comments on tutoring Literature : My university education heavily emphasized reading and analyzing literature. As a part of my classwork I read European and American literature from Beowulf to Brontë to Joyce to Woolf; Postcolonial literature, including Salman Rushdie and Arundhati Roy; and a wide variety of literary criticism. I have given college lectures on a number of novels and poems, namely Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, Brontë's Jane Eyre, and T.S. Eliot's Wasteland. In my tutoring, I analyze books such as To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984 with my students.

I earned my BA in English in 2010 and have been teaching and tutoring high school and college students ever since, both in the classroom and as a private tutor. My years of experience have helped me understand not only what is expected of students but how to best teach those skills. My expertise includes grammar, AP classes, creative and academic writing, in-depth text analysis, and vocabulary development. I am a recent graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania (May 2011). I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in creative writing. Young people learn through different ways and means. I try to discern the best method to instruct any particular student with whom I am tutoring at the time. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board.
