I believe I have a natural ability to work with students of all ages. Tutoring and being able to help students understand certain topics is very rewarding for me. I truly enjoy doing helping others. My teaching style is somewhat laid-back, but students know that I expect them to learn to their fullest potential. I believe in using several learning styles in the classroom and being to identify which students require different ways of learning. My style of teaching involves real learning. I believe that all students have the ability to learn new concepts and facts if the teaching is made fun and personal. Teaching why and how the information can be put to use helps student retain the knowledge longer and teaches them to think on thier own. I believe in working at a steady pace, but one that is geared toward the individual students strengths.
I earned my degree in Human Services from Virginia Wesleyan College, after graduating I returned to Massachusetts and took several classes towards a Masters degree at Anna Maria College. I have not yet become a classroom teacher. I have already applied to summer school programs throughout the state. As a coach, I feel that it is essential to inspire students/my student athletes. If you can ingite a desire to learn in students, I believe everything falls into place after that. I enjoy placing my student athletes into small groups to discuss for certain periods of time, and then I like to spend the rest of the time talking to them as a whole. After every session I coach, I have my student athletes write me a note after every lesson explaining to me what they have learned. I believe this is imperative, to make sure that the student learns and understands something new every single day.
