Unique Tutor

Substitue teacher and esl tutor for the past 4 years. I worked with various classes from Algebra to IEP classes and ESL, from Science to Social studies and everything in between. I taught classes and did not hand out worksheets. My rules in class were, you dont waste a class period. I used litle tricks to make sure they did not waste time and actually learned from me. My students often come up to me when they see me in public to say I was their favorite sub. I started off in Art Education as a major but left to go into Marketing. I believe in starting with the basics in all things. Reading starts with Phonics, and writing starts with Spelling and Vocabulary, as well as old-fashioned handwriting skills. An absolute staple of learning, in my opinion, is frequent reading for pleasure – whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, novels or comic books. I am patient and love to teach, even reluctant learners. I remember what it was like to not want to sit around and do schoolwork, so I don't expect children to be eager to do it.
