A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a Junior at the University of Louisville. I'm a Nursing major, and I plan on working as a Pediatric ER nurse. I love kids! I love watching children and students learn and knowing that I was apart of the process! I'm 21, and live in Simpsonville, Ky. I was raised in south Georgia! I have danced my whole life. I was on the dance team in Georgia back in highschool. I also played soccer and Women's Professional Football. I'm outgoing, and I get along with anybody! I'm fun and playful, but I know when it's time to get serious. I'm a CLS (Community Living Support)worker, and I work with people with disabilities- whether its tutoring them or just getting them out into the community.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to determine my teaching style by first evaluating a child's current progress and learning style. Learning is a very individualized process, therefore, teaching must also be individual. I am a relaxed person, and I like to find a way to relate material to a child in a way that he/she will not only understand, but retain. Flash cards are great for some children, and other children will learn better with a pneumonic device, while still other learners will make up a song to remember the material.
As an English major, I spent all 4 years at my private instutition tutoring my fellow students, not only in English and writing courses, but in all academic classes in which I had received a grade of "A" or "B". 3 of my 4 years at Lindsey Wilson were spent in the Education department, as I originally wanted to be a high school English teacher. Gaining and sharing knowledge has been a driving force throughout my life. Literacy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. Having taught grade levels from preschool to adulthood, I know that everyone learns in their own unique manner and at their own time. My experiences span not only various age groups but different subjects as well,including math, algebra, biology, history, literature, Spanish, grammar, reading/phonics, study skills, and beginning dance.
