A Little Bit About Me...

I worked at a girls scout camp as a counselor. I taught these girls many things about life and about the importance of learning and improving yourself. I have been a counselor at an elementary school and helped in the classroom. Also, I have have been a babysitter for years and helped children with school work, piano, dancing, and much more.
My teaching style is to be supportive and of course helpful; but most importantly, a great listener. children will improve of they are be listened to, not always being taught to.

After graduating from Utah State, I taught 2nd grade for a year at a charter school. It was a good experience, but I wanted the chance to work with students in a variety of settings. During the past school year, I was hired as the Spanish Specialist at another charter school which has been another great experience. Some of my favorite subjects to teach are math, writing, history, music, and Spanish. I have tutored in English, reading, math, and Spanish.
A proverb I once heard best describes my teaching philosophy: "Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I become." Thus, my goal as a tutor is to help students discover for themselves. That way learning becomes not only more engaging, but more lasting as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Biology student at Brigham Young University I was hired to be a tutor in the Life Sciences Learning Center. I tutored college students with a focus on introductory biology, molecular biology, and genetics. I developed a rapport with students and fostered a positive and welcoming learning environment. Last April I graduated from BYU with a BS in Biology, and regrettably had to leave my role as a tutor. I have six years of experience in teaching dance, including tap, jazz, ballet, and ballroom. As a Mormon/LDS missionary I attended the LDS Mission Training Center and then spent 2 years in the Tokyo area. I studied and spoke Japanese daily. I taught a message in Japanese daily. Also I spoke to congregations in Japanese regularly. Following that time, 2004-2006, I studied at BYU (acclaimed for its language success). Here I have earned 20 credit hours of Japanese with an A- average. I am not fluent but I am very good.
I believe teaching is a noble profession. As a missionary I was a teacher for two years. There was a specified message about Jesus Christ and the incredible potential of mankind. A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was a child, I have loved education, learning, and especially teaching. I started my college career taking education classes. In most of my summer jobs, I have been a youth counselor and leader. I volunteered as a calculus math tutor at BYU. Serving as a volunteer in Japan taught me many things in culture, religion and ethnicity, as well as a foreign language. I trained missionaries learning the Japanese language and religious lessons. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate students at the University of Utah at the Economics department, and also as a Civil Engineer I have been exposed to many professional presentations to explain technical projects, as well as theoretical topics especially at graduate level where different economics perspectives have to be explained. Finally as a Civil Engineer I have had the chance to develop my math skills with courses such as: Calculus I, II, III and Differential Equations, and Statistics.
