I have not tutored publicly before, but have tutored friends children/ family members for standardized tests such as the high school history and english statewide tests. I have tutored 5+ people in college algebra (all earning A's) as well as helped high school students with algebra. I am probably best at writing papers and reading comprehension type tasks. Because I have little experience, I would be willing to take reduced pay for a couple of sessions to assess if you feel I am helping your child, and then we could set a more formal agreement. I can help almost any age student from 6th grade to the college level. For math problems, I usually work problems and explain each step, and then have the student attempt to work a similiar one when they feel like they understand the problems. I’ve had many years of practice in the tutoring field dealing with the fact that my brother has a learning disability. He likes to have fun and thinks that leaning is boring, so I try to make learning as fun as possible. Then I have my student on student tutoring when the students tutor each other. I think its better that way because most students don't really pay attention to their teachers but they take it better when it comes from another student.
