Math can be fun, especially when applied to exciting applications. For my work at NASA and the MITRE Corporation I use concepts from Calculus I-II almost everyday. Inspiring students to become excited about math and science is one of my life-long goals. Step by step visual diagrams can be effective tools for describing complex ideas. From my experience as a teacher and student I have had great success creating simple graphics to accompany otherwise dense math equations for circuits, data structures and statistics. I began tutoring as an undergrad student working for the college's academic support office tutoring math and science courses. After graduating cum laude with a BA in Mathematics, BS in Meteorology, Physics minor, and Secondary Education certification, I went straight into teaching. For the next 8 years I was a jr high and high school math and science teacher. I taught Physics, earth Science, Physical Science, General Science, and math classes ranging from 7th grade basic math up through trigonometry.
