A Little Bit About Me...

When I first attended Wilmington College, I was in early childhood education. I completed a whole semester of student teaching and volunteered for tutoring after school. I finally had decided that teaching was not for me because I wanted more of an office setting job so i decided to major in business management. I have decided that I want to pursue in subsitute teaching so that I am able to help children and spend more time with my newborn.
Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a child's face once they cath on to something. I love helping children learn by doing a lot of visual activities and practicing! I was always the only person who could help my younger sister study for tests because she said my teaching techinique is very helpful and makes her remember things. When tutoring, I feel it is best to sit back and review the student's work and watch him/her in action. Once I have established where he/she needs work, I show the student a different way of looking at the problem(s). I use their motivations to demonstrate the value of learning the subject in which he/she struggles. I show the student different perspectives, diagrams, and use additional resources such as quiz games. I let the student know that he/she is not alone in his/her struggle.
