As a creative writing major at school, i was an avid member of our newspaper, serving as copy editor. When i graduated college i continued my summer job as a technical writer at an engineering company. My last position was also an assistant technical writer. Both positions required knowledge of AP style, extreme detail to grammar and an ability to write different styles. After school in between finding career positions, i briefly tutored and substitued as a paraprofessional in the nearby school district. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is based on the belief that children perform well academically when given an opportunity to learn in their own unique way. In particular, I have worked with students with receptive-language difficulties, ADHD, and oppositional behavior. In my teaching, I have tried to implement techniques that involve repetition, visual cues, and creativity to enhance students' academic performance. I believe each student has the potential to advance when given the appropriate tools. For example, I try to use lively stories and cue cards to enhance phonemic awareness of the long and short vowel sounds and consonant sounds as well as basic sight words.
