I really love kids and I enjoy working with them. Throughout my years of experience, I have worked with students of all ages, from pre-school to adults. I understand that each person has their own unique style of learning, and I pride myself on being able to reach each student.
I attended Whitney Young High School and began tutoring while in school as a part of my volunteer service with the National Honor Society. I continued to teach while in college, and in fact, worked as a tutor part time. After college, I moved to Japan for one year and worked as an English teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that the role of a teacher is to capture the curiosity of students by providing them with lessons and activities that require them to think outside of the box. Such activities should be hands-on and encourage the students to use their senses. I agree with John Dewey, the famous education philosopher, who believes that it is beneficial when teachers use experiential learning because it engages students and presents them with direct experience and focused reflection, which in turn, increases knowledge, develops skills, and clarifies values. I believe that when teachers provide students with hands-on activities, they have a better chance of becoming actively engaged in each lesson.

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my life, I have always dedicated myself completely to whatever task I take on. This quality has helped me earn a bachelor degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a 4.0 GPA in my first semester of graduate school at National Louis University in the Master of Arts in Teaching program. I have an extensive background in science from my undergraduate studies, in addition to a passion for Language Arts - both will allow me to earn middle school endorsements on my elementary education teaching certificate.
