A Little Bit About Me...

I have several years experience working with children and adults in the education field. The students I have taught at the college level ranged from late teens to early 30s. As I have worked with such a wide range of ages I am familiar with the needs of students in each age group I have taught. I work with the student to understand the areas in which they are not as strong or confident and work with them to develop a method of studying and learning that works best for them. I believe that one of the most beneficial methods of learning material is to relate the material to something the student may be more familiar with or something with which they can relate.

Attaining two degrees has opened my eyes to many different teaching styles and ways of learning. I believe that the most effective way to learn and teach is to explain concepts and theories thoroughly before any application of these concepts. I believe that in order to really learn a subject, and not just memorize it, the theory must be understood. I truly enjoy presenting people with ideas and having them gain the knowledge and capacity to gain the intended results. I have taught and mentored people within my work setting as well. I had a wonderful experience attending MSMC.I learned a wide variety of skills and techniques throughout the Psychology teachings as well as about the intriguing study of Psychology itself. There were many opportunities to examine and research philosophies and perform actual research as a team. I had the experience of learning a long side other students, however, I did tutor other fellow classmates at various times throughout my educational career in many venues.
