Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2005 I went on to work as a Special Education aid at the middle school level. I was responsible for a ten year old girl with Asperger's Syndrome, which required me to monitor her throughout the day as well as modify each lesson given in each subject.
