My comments on tutoring Algebra : Algebra is the foundation to all higher level math. As a NYS certified 7-12 math teacher for the Rochester City School District I have helped numerous students overcome misunderstanding of essential concepts to become successful with math.

NYS certified 7-12 mathematics teacher. As a child there were times I struggled with math. I didn't always "see" the patterns or understood the flexibility and beauty of numbers. Yet with ith persistence, perseverance and encouraged mistakes ALL students can learn to see the flexibility and creativity inherent in math by helping them discover many different ways of seeing numbers, using multiple strategies with multiple entry points.
I use a whole brain approach to learning. This involves using gestures, chunking/practice of concepts that compose mathematical processes, and embracing vocabulary.
