A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of The Kings College the professors taught me the value of working with children on an individual basis. They taught me that there are many different learning styles a student may have. This is what got me interested in the Title 1 Program. As a tutor in this program my focus was Reading and Math at the elementary level. My job was to help students with dificulties in reading and math to get up to the next grade level and beyond with confidence! I am happy to say that this is the most rewarding job there is! No two children are the same, and we know that this is correct, so therefore it applies to their learning ability as well. I think Math is the most beautiful subject and the highest form of human expression. A lot of times people are turned away from it due to a high school math experience that they perceive as dry and boring. When I tell people I love math, I too often hear "well, better you than me!" I think part of the high school math experience should include turning students on to mathematical discovery. Confronting confusion and working through to develop an understanding that feels personal and thorough. I believe that everyone must learn in an individual way at their own pace and I am prepared to put in the necessary effort to give my students that opportunity.
