Though I have a degree in classroom education, one-on-one teaching is my heartbeat. I believe it is the highest good for a student's learning. It prevents your student from getting "lost in the crowd" and allows us to focus on his or her needs. My first goal is to determine how the student learns. I worked as a teacher's assistant for several years in public schools in Illinois, assisting in K-5 classrooms. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years, teaching beginning reading and elementary reading. As I gained experience, I began tutoring students in the school district where I worked. After several years, I became a fifth grade teacher in a private school where I taught for 5 years. I have 5.5 years at Michigan Technological University in the studies of Mechanical Engineering. I currently take classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in their certification for CAD Specialists. I have substitute taught in the pass for a few months, mainly elementary level kids.
