By treating children as though they are intelligent and providing encouragement and learning opportunities, I have seen children grow and progress in almost astonishing ways. The sparkle in a child's eyes when they finally "get it" is the best paycheck. After finishing my Masters Degree in Education I taught one year in a private school then opened my own business tutoring primarily homeschool students during the school year. The students I have worked with are primarily ages 11-18, but my experience with my own children includes the primary grades. During my undergraduate education at the University of Utah I worked for Upward Bound and for Student Services as a tutor for both High School and College Students. During those three years I tutored all levels of Math as well as Physics, Chemistry and Engineering. I also taught ACT preparation courses. Since then I have tutored students on occasion from elementary age through undergraduate levels in both formal and informal settings. As a Weber State graduate, I majored in Zoology and minored in Chemistry. Even though science has always been a passion of mine, I am very knowledgeable in math.
