I did my field experience teaching in Elementary and Middle schools. I have a bachelor degree in English Linguistics and a minor in teaching English as a second language. I have a very good knowledge of grammar and writing compostions and research papers. I have volunteered at various local ESL organizations. I like a jump right in style that is forthright and honest. I have a sense of humor, and will use it teaching, but only sparingly. I have a lot of experience working with students who have had terrible education experiences, who have not had support at home, who have made bad personal decisions. I enjoy working with students in small groups, or one-on-one, I believe that in order to help a student succeed in a subject matter in is first necessary to show him/her a real life application of the skill set you are teaching. If you are teaching successive addition or subtractions, the use of a checkbook, and mock purchases, will allow the student to see the value of learning the skill as opposed to simply thinking of it as one more "rote task" she/he must learn to get a passing grade.
