Teaching has always played a key role in my life. In 1997 I graduated from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as both a dance major and an Advanced Placement student. During my time in high school I was selected to tutor my fellow peers in Mathematics, as well as chosen to be a dance teacher's assistant. During college, I continued to teach dance professionally and held a job as a tutor in Computer Programming through my university. For the past two years, I have been working as an adjunct instructor and tutor in mathematics and computer information systems for a local Community College. This experience has been so fulfilling, that I am diligently pursuing a career change from Information Technology professional to teaching. I also taught mathematics for one year at a private school. Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall.
