I have been a tutor Since about the age of 13. Mathematics and science have been the areas with the most experience. In high school and through to college, I was a part of organizations such as Mu Alpha theta, Top 10 Percent, Fun Lab Inc etc... that were centered around giving kids opportunities to be more involved with STEM and tutored them in those various subjects. During the summers of 2015 and 2016, I taught elementary kids Math, Language, Reading, and Engineering.

Algebra II is one of my top subjects! I have tutored Algebra 2 for more than two years now. I have used various technological tools like Maple and WebAssign to help students solve complex problems. My approach to helping students learn algebra is to consistently remind them of basic stuff while they delve themselves into complex problems. I like to tell students, "You are working too hard." This means, I have a better and simpler way of understanding and solving the problem. When students get too submerged into problems, they tend to forget basic stuff. That is where reminding them of basic concepts becomes important. One of the examples is when students see a really long equation, they automatically think it involves some complex formulas and techniques while it can be just broken down with simple concepts.

I involve students a lot during the learning period. I consistently ask them questions about the topic and let them think for a while. I give them as much information as possible so that they do not miss any information while solving problems. I make students write. That is how they learn. I consistently give students concepts and them demonstrate with sample questions.

Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. Focused Math Tutor with dedication and direction

I am a very logical and result oriented person. If you are interested in seeing better results from the scores, tests and believe in making rapid change in your thought process, you may want to try me. I believe learning should be fun and not all work. Not all answers will be shortcuts that would involve lot of memorizing, but very systematic and logical way of approaching a problem for the student to gain interest and at the same time be able to address any problem out of the box. I do understand that not all students are the same and each one of them would require different teaching model to reach eventually to the same high levels. I have given several exams in and out of the country and there are definite tips that can help the student to achieve better results with the same knowledge level. I have scored over 95 percentiles in almost all the exams that I gave, some times wit ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Started teaching Algebra II when I came back into the classroom.

I use the Inquiry Method to teach/tutor my students. My method also includes use of the internet and online sessions, in Real Time. My students log into my virtual classroom. I may upload materials, classwork, or personal assignments to reinforce the concept. I accept long term assignments, with the minimum of 8 weeks, at least twice a week - days to be determined, because mathematics is a foundation process not just an answer! I prepare my students for a "Feel Good Experience" with Mathematics! *A printer, scanner, and copier, All In One is recommended and inexpensive, to gain maximum proficiency!

Math is a difficult subject for many people. I am very patient and keep a positive attitude through the entire time.
Throughout my life I have helped many people excel in different mathematical levels. I have helped young kids learn basic addition facts as well as teaching college level students calculus. As I was helping a student prepare for a test at my university, she proposed the idea of becoming a tutor as a job. I have had success teaching people I personally know, so I want to be able to expand my tutoring services to everyone.
