My comments on tutoring College Algebra : Algebra can be confusing, but it comes easily enough with the right guidance! If you need a patient tutor who will go through the concepts and problems with you step by step, then let me know and I will help you improve!

For tutoring, I prefer face-to-face lessons, because it makes it easier for me to gauge how well the student is understanding the material. I try to explain concepts in a variety of ways to find out how the student learns best, whether through repetition, example, metaphor, application... whatever works! I have tutored kids with all kinds of needs and a few with pretty short attention spans :) For piano lessons, I would use the Alfred library of teaching materials, as that is how I was taught and it works wonders on new learners! In addition to reading music, I would focus on performance techniques and theory as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. Also, if the student's teacher stays positive and pushes him or her towards success by means of positive reinforcement they will succeed.
While studying at SUNY ESF I held a position as a teaching assistant for Western Civilization. My teaching style is a combination of techniques I found successful during my educational studies. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student. Second, patience is of upmost importance. In my experience, nothing inhibits learning as much as a rushed or pressured feeling when one is trying to learn.
