A strength on which I have always prided myself is my ability to relate complex concepts with useful analogies and from different angles. I never underestimate a child's ability to learn something, so long as it's in a way in which they understand it. Curriculum development is also important. By that, I mean the creation of illustrations, tables, lists, acronyms, heuristics, and flash cards to aid a student in their thirst to learn. I am patient and fun, and working with children is something that has always animated and invigorated me. I prefer a "hands on" approach in a one-on-one environment. I have had success with classrooms of up to 120 students, but I prefer the individual monitoring. It yields the best results. I have tutored remedial reading at the Elementary level for a tutoring service out of Phoenix, AZ for the Washoe County School System in Reno. While in my undergraduate study, I tutored fellow students who were struggling with beginning music theory. Another classmate and I taught classes in 4 levels of theory for up to 120 students while at U of P-West Chester. My initial experience was as a 2nd grade teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools.(6years) I then moved to Ohio where I taught for 4 years as a Learning and Behavior Disordered teacher. I attended Kent State University and procured a Masters in Counseling for the Elementary Children. I taught Creative Dance in the Tucson, Arizona Pre-Schools (8 of them) for several years and then moved tom Reno, Nv where I worked as a Kindergarten teacher for one year and then served as teacher in the first, second, third, and fourth grades for a total of 11 years.
