Fuller Learning. The holistic aproach to tutoring

I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. I try to create a relaxed and fun (silly for the little ones) atmosphere where learning will be fun and memorable, because I believe that if you enjoy it - you'll remember it. All students will be given a pre-test prior to instruction so that I can decern if the students problem is one of cognative development or simply gaps in the learning process. I try to help the student relate their learning to real world experiences.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I am a life-long learner and believe education is what makes people successful in today's society. I own a lot of software programs from the Teach12 curricula. I learn such things as discreet math, the Joy of Science and Understanding the Brain to name a few. I read book such as "Character is Destiny" and "Eleanor Roosevelt" to learn about our rich history. It is people, no matter what age that I am interested in teaching because with enough effort, anything is possible when it comes to learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach one-on-one or in small groups. The greatest moment for me, as a teacher, is what I call the “Aha!” that I see in a student’s eyes when he/she finally understands a troublesome concept. I believe that teaching is about empowering my students to take responsibility for their own learning. I want to help my students in clarifying their own values and provide the opportunity to explore and discover answers to the questions they create; I want my students to analyze, compare, and evaluate the answers they discover. I have a BA in English, and graduate magna cum laude. I was accepted into an Alternative Teacher LIcensing Program for the state of Colorado, and taught language arts for the 2009-2010 school year. I have passed my Praxis II exam, and I am best at working with grammar and mechanics.
I like to encourage my students to put themselves into their writing. I like to push my students to write better than what they think is their best. I take pride in following grammatical rules, and am a stickler for proper MLA formatting for research based papers. I believe all children have the right to a great education; they just need someone to push them in the right direction. I love children, and I can almost always find a way to relate to my students.
