At Purdue University I took all Engineering degree mathematics courses. In addition, I took five statistical cources, three of them were graduate level. At AlliedSignal, I received a week's training to teach three day courses in Total Quality Leadership to employees. Over the course of one year, I conducted twenty four courses with a partner facilitator. One company I worked for was a supplier to Caterpillar. In the course of mutual problem solving, I was able to be certified as a Green Belt.
My teaching style is to provide several ways to solve a problem. Since learning is done in different ways, one of the solution methods will turn on a light bulb and the student will "get it". I bring additional materials and new ways to remember. Last fall I tutored a fifth grader in mathematics. I provided note cards for him in the various solution formulas.

I got to know the student's problems with the subject matter and was able to help them more accurately than in the classroom. I was very pleased with the results of this process. The course involved statistics, math, physics, calculus.
Presently retired. 25 years of teaching locally at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne and at ITT in Fort Wayne. I love teaching and find that I, as well as my students, learn by teaching and interactively asking questions and seeking answers together. I believe that all students learn differently, so I try to use a varied approach of general lecture review, drawing visual aids, asking students to teach me a concept, developing ideas in multiple processes and working through problem sets. I am very laid back, patient and accepting. I know that I learn best using techniques different than others, so if a student is not achieving his or her potential, they simply might need a new technique.
