I have been teaching science at the secondary level for over 17 years. I have taught chemistry and advanced chemistry, Earth science which includes "GOMA" Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology and Astronomy. No person learns identically to anyone else, therefore I approach pupils from their learning styles. I engage them, finding out what methods have worked and get a quick generalized understanding of how they learn. A Little Bit About Me...

In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. It is important to be able to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the student, and I love the challenge of being able to do this.
I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.

I am one who believes that children learn in different ways, and through different strategies, a teacher can help students find their best way to learn. Students who struggle with learning may just be not interested in what is being taught. I like to find out what the students are interested in and try to incorporate that into the subject area so they can be enthusiastic in the subject and be more wiling to learn. Learning can be fun and I want to make it my job to help make it possible.
I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University. Throughout my four years of attending, I have had a lot of experience teaching through my practicum classes and through student teaching. Presently retired. 25 years of teaching locally at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne and at ITT in Fort Wayne. Other localities include Idaho, Arizona, and South Carolina. 20 years as an engineer on Government Projects including the Minuteman Missile, Loss of Fluid Test reactor, Roland Missile Project, Parts of the Lunar Excursion Module etc.
My success in tutoring was more visible to me at ITT in the period between 1995 to 2006. I got to know the student's problems with the subject matter and was able to help them more accurately than in the classroom. I was very pleased with the results of this process. The course involved statistics, math, physics, calculus.
