A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.
In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. It is important to be able to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the student, and I love the challenge of being able to do this.

Being the eldest of 8 children, I grew up helping my siblings with schoolwork. This in turn gave me focus, patience, & a drive to do my own work well. Through my years of teaching, I've learned how many students start frustrated with writing & as adults, they assume that they'll never understand how to do it well. I enjoy helping students break it down, learn the process, & go from there. It only compounds as they gain more & more education. Knowing how to write well is one of the key ingredients to success!
