A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with a specialization in American History. I have a passion for the subject and for helping students succeed. I just completed my practicum last fall and was active in a 10th grade World History class for about 10 hours a week. During the summer of 2011 I was employed at girl scout camp in Lake George where I planned and taught History lessons for our weekly programs. I also have worked for the Walt Disney Company, in the Magic Kingdom. While I was there, I was able to do American History trivia and tours for the Liberty Square area.
I really enjoy engaging the student in discussion of the topic and helping them experience the events in History rather than just remembering dates and locations.

After graduating from Niagara University, I was hired as a 7-12 English teacher at Morrisville-Eaton Central School District. I have taught there for 34 years,until retiring in 2010. I have taught grades 7-12, working with students from all walks of life. Included in my curriculum are all aspects of grammar, vocabulary, reading, literature, poetry, plays, and essay writing, AIS classes, preparation for the SAT and ELA exams. I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. I have worked at a few different jobs and just went back to college again at Utica School of Commerce and got my certificate degree as a Medical Office Assistant.

Both of my parents were teachers and I find myself sharing my knowledge with anyone who seems to need it. Before I begin to teach I like to attempt to understand how much the student comprehends about the particular subject. I prefer to teach globally and with examples.
