I believe that education is more a process than a product. My role as teacher/tutor is one of the lifelong learner drawn to guide others to ask questions rather than merely acquire knowledge. While the acquisition of knowledge is an essential portion of the learning process, it is not the mark of an educated person. An educated person is one who is able to analyze not only the literature placed in front of him in an educational setting but is able to apply that knowledge to form his opinion of the world. I motivate my students to strive for these goals by encouraging guided discovery and I am a very student-centered educator.

A Little Bit About Me...

My philosophy is that education is power. Knowledge is our greatest defense and our greatest weapon. Through knowledge we gain experience, which enriches our competence, which protests the ills of society, which leads to a social justice, and most important, liberty. Learning is an activity that we should never stop, and if we do, we begin to die. I believe all children can learn given the appropriate avenues to success. Part of our job is to find those avenues and encourage our students to use them.
I have been substitute teaching for 5 years. Within that time I decided that teaching was for me and went on to get my degree and certificate to teach. I have completed several long-term substitute teaching positions, picking up where a teacher left off, often times unexpectedly. I have taught classes in the elementary, middle and high school.
