Education in my life has been my number one motivating factor for success. I am a former UConn graduate (1984) with a BS in Marketing. Many of my electives were in mathematics, enabling me to work as a student tutor on campus. I have also completed coursework in anatomy and physiology. In addition to tutoring college level students I have worked with elementary and middle school children in church youth groups, assisting with bible verse memorization and reading skills,as well as staging music productions. My experience also includes homeschooling my own children and assisting in classrooms.
My teaching style is relaxed, but focused. I believe all children can be natural learners, especially when they find something that interests them. Patience is the key with children. I am a life-long learner, having earned my BA after enjoying two successful careers. I was a reporter for 10 years, then went to the corporate world. When I was downsized five years ago I ventured into other areas including teaching.
I like to teach with a light touch. As a parent I have nurtured teenagers through challenging times. My experience has taught me that most kids only want to study those subjects that interest them.
