A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. I believe that it is important to instill confidence in the student which raises expectations and increases motivation. I am very patient with a good sense of humor.
I obtained my BA in Social Work and have worked in that field since 1993. In 2005 I began a part time job as an Adult Education instructor for Sentinel Career Center where my primary focus was language arts/writing. The ASVAB currently contains 9 sections - Word Knowledge (WK), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Mechanical Comprehension (MC), Automotive and Shop Information (AS), Electronics Information (EI), Mathematics Knowledge (MK), General Science (GS), Paragraph Comprehension (PC) and Assembling Objects (AO). AFQT(combined ASVAB scores) required minimum scores for people with a high school diploma as of May 2011 are as follows: Air Force (AFQT) 50 (GED is 65), Air National Guard (AFQT) 31 (GED Graduate is 50), Coast Guard (AFQT) 40 (GED is 50), Navy (AFQT) 50 (or 65 with GED), Marines (AFQT) 32 (or 50 with GED), Army (AFQT) 31. GED holders who earn 15 college credits 100 level or greater are considered equivalent with those holding high school diplomas. This would result in only needing the minimum score to enlist.
