More recently I tutored a college freshman in Algebra and some of my peers for continuing education credits in Algebra. I have a total of 3 years tutoring experience and an additional 2 years experience from home schooling my daughter for 2nd and 3rd grade.
I try to find out the learning style of the person I am teaching and use that as my primary teaching style. Some people learn better by hearing, some by reading or seeing and some by doing. I think focusing on the style that the person prefers to learn and then backing it up with the other styles to reinforce what they have learned is the best way for the student to retain the information. Peole dont lean in the same ways. I take an individual approach. I get to know the person, ther likes and dislikes, which gives me some knowledge on how to approach the lesson. I love working with people. I love watching people learn it is a great accomplishment.
Through out junior high and I high school I have tutrored fellow students in the area of math, from basic to geometry, trig and calculus. I majored in computer engineering because of my love for math but I knew all the time that I should have been teaching. While in college I have continued to tutor whether it be grade school students or college students at home and over the phone. Math is my passion.

Here is Some Good Information About Continuing Education Tutoring

General continuing education is similar to adult education, at least in being intended for adult learners, especially those beyond traditional undergraduate college or university age. However, it is not normally considered to include basic instruction such as literacy, English language skills, or programs such as vocational training or GED preparation. Instead, as the term suggests, it is assumed that the student already has an education and is simply continuing it. Continuing your education? Getting a GED? A tutor can help. Select a tutor now.
