As a college English professor and high school English teacher with an MA in English, I have had the opportunity to help many young people improve their writing and critical thinking skills. I have also tutored students from middle school to college level English on many occasions. I can help students at all skill levels become better writers and thinkers.
My teaching style is best described as modern Socratic method. Questioning to elicit critical thinking is the essence of education. A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 10 years of experience in the education field with a special love for tutoring Mathematics. My comments on tutoring Literature : Survey of American and British Literature classes in college, along with AP classes for high school.

I am currently an English major, specifying in creative writing, at Virginia Tech. In high school, I took both of the offered AP English courses and passed with a 4 on both. In college, almost every class I have taken has been English-oriented, with regards to either literature or writing. When it comes to helping others, I have been editing friends' papers some in high school and multiple times weekly in college. I am able to find what they are doing wrong and constructively advise ways to fix their problems with writing.
I like to see examples of what the person is having difficulty with in order to pinpoint problems and then work on them from there.

I am a creative teacher, meaning that I assess the individual and do not have an agenda that I adhere to. Normally, I am able to advance a child a grade level in reading with three months of tutoring and reinforcing homework, during the summer. However, I will go the extra mile to help a student be able to totally understand what I am trying to help them learn.
