I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education, which means I took several teaching classes. I have worked with youth for almost 10 years, working in schools, summer camps, and most recently as an director of (3) afterschool programs. I worked as a para-educator for 3 years in a school in central VT, helping tutor a 2nd grader and a 7th grader with their academics

Ever since I was in high school, I have always enjoyed working with children in a variety of situations. I helped out in a second grade classroom and enjoyed helping students understand their classwork. Even in college, I enjoyed helping my friends with math and writing. Last year, I taught a self-contained sixth grade classroom and this year, I taught a multi-age first and second grade classroom in the same school.
My creativity allows me to come up with different teaching ideas depending on the child's needs. I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). I really want to help kids succeed in school and be in charge of their learning even after I am no longer their tutor. I like to inspire them to learn.
As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level.
