To help struggling students, we break down difficult concepts into smaller pieces and help them translate difficult scientific jargon and other vocabulary into "regular English". Discovering how these words are broken down allows the students to recognize and translate words in the future. I have been interested in tutoring and mentoring elementary students since I was a senior in high school. My college experience includes coaching junior high kids, tutoring 1st through 8th grade students in math and reading, and observing veteran teachers. My years at Michigan State University taught me a lot about planning and curriculum, as well as the importance of hard work. Michigan State required every student to complete a year of student teaching.
