My comments on tutoring Calculus II : Math is one of my strongest and favorite subjects

My tutoring experience has begun in college, when I would assist with Japanese and math lessons between classes and the campus job. Over 12 years since then, regardless of where my professional life takes me, I have had the privilege of working with various clients in terms of age, background, and objectives. Thus far, the youngest was a second grader with mathematics, while the eldest was a professional with genuine interest in Japanese. As a native of Japan who has lived abroad for the majority of the life, it is my pleasure to meet and share the knowledge.
The client's specific objectives are identified in an early stage in order to customize the composition of the lessons.

REAL LEARNING IS FUN, RISKY, DANGEROUS...BUT NEVER BORING :)

My passion is helping YOU attain your academic goals. Helping you grow sustainable LEARNING skills, SELF-DISCOVERY skills, and LIFE-SURVIVAL skills through the tutoring experience is my primary concern. My best students are un-cool with authority, rebellious, edgy, skeptical, and FULL of curiosity. 1) Diagnose the problem - determine current strengths and weaknesses. 2) Given course syllabus and step 1 and current grades in class, develop a plan of improvement and goal. 3) Work on remedial skills development. 4) Next work on understanding new concepts to keep student current in lecture material. 5) Practice, practice, practice to improve Exam performance. 6) Re-evaluate.
My experience spans both the ivory tower and the world of business and industry. I have observed that "TEACHING" is often associated with the ideas of "PRESENTATION" and "ACADEMIC ENTERTAINMENT". Hones ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have a passion for people and education. I myself enjoy learning and sharing that passion with others. I love sharing my knowledge with students and encouraging them along the way. I believe that every individual has a learning style that must be discovered and utilized. Students can be visual, auditory or tactile learners, and often many students are a combination of each learning style. I like to make learning fun and I use various unique strategies with students that fit into each individual’s way of learning. I encourage students to ask questions and create a dialogue between teacher and student. I believe one of the best ways to learn through teaching, and I encourage my students to think about how they would teach the material to their peers. I am compassionate and patient and I challenge my students in every aspect of their learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I want my students to enjoy learning so that they will be motivated. I have found that one of the best ways to make learning enjoyable is to make it accessible to the student. A student who understands the course work will enjoy the learning process and be motivated to work harder than a student who does not. I try to understand what is obscuring my students perception of the subject and then I try to remove that obstruction. Generally a student understands almost everything, but there is one or two things that give them trouble. When those one or two things are cleared up, they feel empowered and motivated and I very much enjoy helping a student to that place.
I have primarily tutored mathematics and physics for eight years. I have tutored students in middle school to college level in classes ranging from remedial algebra to college level calculus. I have a Bachelors degree ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have over six years of tutoring experience. I have tutored students ranging from middle school to college and in subjects ranging from algebra I to calculus III. I have a Masters degree in applied math so I have taken a number of advanced mathematics courses. In addition to my technical proficiency, I have strong people skills and work well with students in a one on one setting.
I believe that a student should enjoy learning. I had some fantastic teachers who taught me to love learning and I try to emulate these teachers when I work with students. One of the main keys to helping a student enjoy learning is to empower them to learn on their own by helping the student connect with the material at a point of understanding so that they can venture out on their own in whatever direction is of interest to them. In my experience, most students are very close to a point of understa ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

from experience, i can say different people learn differently and the best way to teach is to identify the way in which an individual is put to think. for example boys learn easily when quantities are expressed in numbers whereas girl grasp faster when quantities are related to their eventual effect.I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. my way of teaching as always been reducing complex concepts to imaginable day-to-day phenomena.
After my BS in Chemical Engineering, during which I gained an understanding in many areas of math and science. I was immediately retained in the University to teach; in the period of 2007 to 2008 I taught almost all the math classes at undergraduate level while at the same time I actively participated in research at a drug development center before joining University of Tul ... read more
