While at the University of Tulsa I have tutored in both math and chemistry, so I have experience with those subjects in particular. Though I received a bachelors in Psychology I was also pre-med, so I was required to take several heavy science courses as well. As such I am also proficient in several biological subjects.
Generally I will try to ask questions to see which specific points a student needs assistance with and make sure they understand the material on a fundamental level. I also believe that practice and hands-on experiences teach the most, so there tends to be an emphasis on working through problems step-by-step than lecturing. Ultimately I am flexible, and can change my style and routine to accommodate the students' needs.

Math helps us solve the world's problems! Let's have fun

I have been a math tutor for several students in the Jenks/Tulsa area. As an engineer, math is a natural strong suit of mine. Previous students have seen test scores improve significantly. Using techniques to break down and solve problems inside your head is what I love to do. I really enjoy tutoring one on one and finding a way to relate to each student in a unique way so that we can work through learning challenges together.

Japanese and Math Tutor with American Experience

The client's specific objectives are identified in an early stage in order to customize the composition of the lessons.
My tutoring experience has begun in college, when I would assist with Japanese and math lessons between classes and the campus job. Over 12 years since then, regardless of where my professional life takes me, I have had the privilege of working with various clients in terms of age, background, and objectives. Thus far, the youngest was a second grader with mathematics, while the eldest was a professional with genuine interest in Japanese. As a native of Japan who has lived abroad for the majority of the life, it is my pleasure to meet and share the knowledge.

I will do everything to help the student achieve success.

I have 28 years of teaching experience in math - 4 years on the high-school level and 24 years on the college level. I have also done a lot of tutoring. Most students who have given me a chance to help them and have done their part have succeeded. Many students have told me that after I had the chance to help them, they understood math for the first time. Many students have told me that before I helped them that they hated math. But when they started understanding it, they didn't hate it anymore; in fact, some said that they even liked it.
In tutoring, it is best to locate where the student is having trouble, and start at that point, since math builds on itself. I always begin by working 1 or 2 examples of a certain type of problem. Then, when the student is ready, let him/her work a similar problem. When the student has mastered that concept, we move on to the next type of ... read more

REAL LEARNING IS FUN, RISKY, DANGEROUS...BUT NEVER BORING :)

My passion is helping YOU attain your academic goals. Helping you grow sustainable LEARNING skills, SELF-DISCOVERY skills, and LIFE-SURVIVAL skills through the tutoring experience is my primary concern. My best students are un-cool with authority, rebellious, edgy, skeptical, and FULL of curiosity. 1) Diagnose the problem - determine current strengths and weaknesses. 2) Given course syllabus and step 1 and current grades in class, develop a plan of improvement and goal. 3) Work on remedial skills development. 4) Next work on understanding new concepts to keep student current in lecture material. 5) Practice, practice, practice to improve Exam performance. 6) Re-evaluate.
My experience spans both the ivory tower and the world of business and industry. I have observed that "TEACHING" is often associated with the ideas of "PRESENTATION" and "ACADEMIC ENTERTAINMENT". Hones ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for people and education. I myself enjoy learning and sharing that passion with others. I love sharing my knowledge with students and encouraging them along the way. I believe that every individual has a learning style that must be discovered and utilized. Students can be visual, auditory or tactile learners, and often many students are a combination of each learning style. I like to make learning fun and I use various unique strategies with students that fit into each individual’s way of learning. I encourage students to ask questions and create a dialogue between teacher and student. I believe one of the best ways to learn through teaching, and I encourage my students to think about how they would teach the material to their peers. I am compassionate and patient and I challenge my students in every aspect of their learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a firm believer in using practical applications to textbook formulas and principles to help students understand the "meanings behind the math." However, everybody has their best learning style, and I strive to find that in those whom I have supervised (professionally) and taught in a college setting. In my opinion, it is also helpful to make learning fun - if you don't want to learn something, it will obviously be much harder to learn it! I try to find fun ways to remember important principles and definitions so that these are easier to recall during testing.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have primarily tutored mathematics and physics for eight years. I have tutored students in middle school to college level in classes ranging from remedial algebra to college level calculus. I have a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Applied Math.
I want my students to enjoy learning so that they will be motivated. I have found that one of the best ways to make learning enjoyable is to make it accessible to the student. A student who understands the course work will enjoy the learning process and be motivated to work harder than a student who does not. I try to understand what is obscuring my students perception of the subject and then I try to remove that obstruction. Generally a student understands almost everything, but there is one or two things that give them trouble. When those one or two things are cleared up, they feel empowered and motivated a ... read more

I believe that a student should enjoy learning. I had some fantastic teachers who taught me to love learning and I try to emulate these teachers when I work with students. One of the main keys to helping a student enjoy learning is to empower them to learn on their own by helping the student connect with the material at a point of understanding so that they can venture out on their own in whatever direction is of interest to them. In my experience, most students are very close to a point of understanding and only need some personalized instruction to make the final few steps. Once a student has connected with the material, the level of motivation and enjoyment they have for and from learning drastically increases.
