I have a student-centered teaching style. That means I see at what level the student is and meet him/her at that level. Then we together move up to where he/she needs to be.
I have taught for many years in all levels of secondary school, alternative schools, and tutoring centers.I eat, sleep, and drink tutoring as I tutor every day during the school year and do lots of research to help my kids in whatever academic subject is causing them difficulty. As a junior and senior in college, my research papers consistently received the highest grades ever awarded by a certain professor with a reputation for being the toughest on campus. I subsequently became a successful trade journalist and marketing communications writer with in excess of 150 feature articles to my name. In addition, the last eight years, during which I've been a homeschooling mom, have allowed me to hone my teaching style and become more aware of the barriers students typically have and effective methods of overcoming writing difficulties.
