Hi, My name is Rob. I graduated from SUNY Oswego summa cum laude with a BS in applied mathematics and a minor in statistics. The plan is to start a Master's Degree in applied statistics at Syracuse University in the fall of 2013. While studying at SUNY ESF I held a position as a teaching assistant for Western Civilization. This involved grading exams and papers, preparing and giving lectures, and holding office hours to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have had. I also spent time volunteering to teach and after school science club through ESF Outreach for elementary / middle school aged children.
I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in teaching six different courses has allowed me to teach all types of learners. I believe that through teaching Academic Intervention Services I improved my ability to help lower level students and be able to break difficult concepts down into smaller skills/steps that are more understandable. My teaching style is a combination of techniques I found successful during my educational studies. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student. Second, patience is of upmost importance. In my experience, nothing inhibits learning as much as a rushed or pressured feeling when one is trying to learn. Finally, it is critical to find a way for the student to relate to the material in a way they understand.
