I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a graduate degree in Secondary Education. I voluntarily tutored some of the kids from my church to help prepare them for state exams. For example, if I notice that a student is a visual learner, then I will try to incorporate diagrams, models, and schematics that can assist the student in understanding the subject matter or solving the problem. If, on the other hand, a student learns best by reading, then I will provide step by step instructions of how to find answers to various problems, or provide guidance as to how to identify important elements from a text. All who wish to learn have but to ask for help. I believe anyone can learn anything they want and that no one deserves to be told otherwise. In tutoring math, the individual needs to have their homework present and, if available, old/recent tests so they may learn from the past as well as the present. Math adds unto itself, so understanding previous rules and equations are necessary for applying them to future classes.
