I have been blessed with professors at the university level who understand the importance of one-on-one instruction. Through the "creativity" of thoughtful instructors I have seen myself grow and develop in ways that I hadn't thought possible. Every student learns differently, and once the instructor gets to know the student well enough and is able to tailor their lessons to the needs of the student, true learning happens. Teaching isn't just about preparing a student for a test; teaching is about creating and inspiring the desire to learn within the student so that they will be learn, not just because they are forced to, but because they are thirsty for knowledge.

I have seven years of experience in teaching college algebra, calculus series and differential equations. I was a teaching assistant for five years when I was a graduate student at the University of Virginia. I have taught calculus I to III multiple times in my teaching career and have an excellent understanding of the subjects. I also have plenty of one-on-one experience helping students. For example, during my office hours, I explained difficult concepts and did extra examples on the blackboard to students who had difficulties understanding it the first time. I have always had the macroscopic view of mathematics (from basic algebra to advanced calculus) to know how everything fits together. If students could learn simply by having a textbook read to them, then there would be no need for teachers. But the effective teacher can and will make the difference in a student's ability to succeed.
