After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1973, I decided that I would enter the field of public education. After 6 years of successful and rewarding experiences in secondary education, I decided to return to college and obtain a Masters Degree in Education. Upon receiving my Masters in 1984, I taught at the post secondary level in both Virginia and North Carolina. At the post secondary level, I had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of subjects from Math to Business Administration.

I worked in a preschool for 3 years and did an internship for four months as well as student teaching for sixteen weeks my senior year of college. I graduated Suma Cum Laude and then worked as a long term substitute in Roanoke City Schools. I then taught for one year in Roanoke City schools in a general education classroom.
