A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach using different strategies and methods, because I know all the students in the classroom are not going to learn the same way. I feel it is best to fully understand my content and standards. Then create lessons to teach the students in a way they will learn the material best for them. I teach using various methods: hands-on, kinesthetic, real life learning, music, incorporating other contents and likes, while still creating a routine for structure. My style changes based on my students needs.
I have completed a MAST (Mathematics as Strategic Teaching) Seminar. I have completed training over engaging difficult students and I have also learned more innovative techniques in which to use when engaging students who are trying to achieve more challenging skills. My teaching style is very patient, kind, and laid back. I believe that everyone has the potential to learn and finish the work they are given, so I very rarely tell someone how to finish a problem or correct a sentence. Instead, I give suggestions of things to think about and ask a lot of questions so that the student can get to the answer themselves. I will gladly point them in the right direction but hesitate to ever point to the answer as I feel the lesson is very easily lost. I see a power in one-on-one teaching/learning and therefore have a great appreciation for tutoring.
A large part of earning my B.A. in Business Management consisted of writing reports and papers for everything from English to Market Research.
