A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a tutor and contract educator in the Richmond area. I have been an instructor at Rice University, and I have been a substitute teacher for the Toms River (NJ) school system. I have undergraduate degrees in history and journalism as well as graduate degrees in history. I have also worked in the public history field as a museum interpreter and educator. I have had years to hone both my oral and written communication skills, from my first fledging writing and public speaking efforts as a student to my more recent work as a teacher and scholar. I have worked with a diverse range of people in my career, including students, teachers, faculty, staff, historians, publishers, authors, volunteers, and the general public. I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and was a software engineer for over 25 years. In 2003, I was certified for Middle School Mathematics in Massachusetts. I have enjoyed being a substitute teacher over 200 days in various Middle and High Schools. I have worked for 20 years in the Awana, youth organization, teaching children from ages 3 through High School. I have been responsible for the New England Bible Quiz teams, coaching and creating study material. I have been a certified driving instructor for 6 years.
