Many years later after serving in the military and starting a family, I went back to school to receive a teaching certificate in the state of NC, after moving to Arkansas with my family, I converted it to an Arkansas license. In 2009, I returned to school again to fulfill a dream of completing a Master's degree. I have been working as a substitute teacher for 5 years and I have been tutoring for 2 years. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed.
