The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Tutoring and diagnostic testing is available after school, evenings (Monday – Friday) and Saturday mornings. The clinic is available year-round. Our testing clinician and school psychologist offer a Psychoeducational Evaluation to all new students. The testing is scheduled for two three hour sessions on separate days during after school hours. The evaluation consist of various test measuring a student’s cognitive abilities, processing skills, IQ, and academic levels. The evaluation will determine a student’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as how they think, reason and process information. A conference will be held with the family and/or the student. A Little Bit About Me...

I have two bachelor degrees, one in computer science, the other in mathematics with a type 09 cert (6-12). I belong to Mensa and the NCTM, and have excellent English and decent Spanish speaking and writing skills. I have taught and tutored in mathematics and computer science for quite awhile, and I earned a 95% on my PSAT and a 32 on my ACT.
Generally, I'm a constructivist, and I believe the best method of tutoring is providing a completely individuated scaffold for any student. While I was raised in old-school education, I believe that some of the newer techniques of education through hands-on, the use of digital technology, and through writing across the curriculum are effective for many students.

I am extremely patient and even-tempered, but also very focused and passionate about education. Communicating with the student and parents is vital to the tutoring process. When I attended Malcolm X College, my first class was a math class. I excelled in the class with an A and was asked by the professor to become a teaxchers assistant in Basic Math and Algebra. After completing my next level Math(College Algebra) I received an A and continued to tutor his students. It was then I began Tammies Tutorial Service. I tutored all ages in Basic Math and Algebra. I also tutored College Algebra and Geometry. I was then hired by the Board of Education to Supervise and tutor young teen for the Chicago Mayor's Summer Program. I continued that position for 2 years.
