joined the army in 2002. served for over 9 years. Scored a 72 on my ASVAB,and 0ver 110 in all fields of the GT score. So i know a bit about everything that is asked of in the ASVAB test. Especially in the automotive and math sections. Worked in a variety of environments, where i learned housekeeping, cooking, and automotive skills.
I can teach in a variety of ways. mainly by using ways to relate to the students understandings. I dont like the costant drilling techniques many people use. Some people learn more by constantly studying, while others study just enough to get an understanding. thats me.

My comments on tutoring Painting : I won many art contests, mostly water color and Indian ink/wash pieces. I have done a few commissioned illustrations.

I use the heuristic style - teach a little; now you try it! The student learns best what they learn from within. At my English boarding school, that is the way we were taught, and it worked. Also, I show them different study methods to see what works for them. I have read widely on psychology. Early on, I assess a student's best learning mode - visual, aural, spatial, numerical, verbal, etc., and play to it. While being active in drama I learned how to 'read' the hearers and viewers. Many of my former students are teachers. Sometimes they recommend students to me when their students pass beyond the teacher's comfort zone. Occasionally student's stop seeing me, and months or years later I hear things like: 'Guess what, I made 100% on the final.'; 'I was the only grad. school entrant who passed the exemption test for Physical Chemistry'; 'I made the Headmaster's list for th ... read more

Hey there. I am a medical school drop out. I have my bachelors in biology, with minors in botany, chemistry and economics. I wandered through many subjects and interest in school. I have tutored fellow students in my undergrad and in med school. I have a good understanding of algebra, economics, chemistry, physiology and writing papers. I cannot tell you I will be the best tutor on your roster, but I have crossed paths with many students that were ready to throw in the towel and have helped them bring their average to a b level before the semester was out.
I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think o ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in English from the University of South Carolina. Throughout my studies, I explored various literature and produced many pieces of writing, both analysis and creative. After moving back to Atlanta, I was a Reading and Writing teacher at a successful education center in Marietta, Georgia. While being an instructor at the tutoring center, I had the opportunity to teach children of all ages. My role at the tutoring center led me to my pursuit of a M.A.T. in Secondary English at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. I will graduate from Mercer in December 2009. During my time as a graduate student at Mercer, I had many opportunities to participate in classroom instruction and classroom management.

A Little Bit About Me...

The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach.
I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. Through the years, I have had the privilage and pleasure of teaching band in a classroom setting, marching band, and private lessons.

I enjoy helping people, children and adults. I know that everyone can learn with the proper teaching method. My tutoring technique incorporates various learning styles. I use visual aids, such as flash cards and color codes, to help my students understand the concepts. Additionally, I encourage my students to take notes and read aloud to assist them in solving the problems. These tools help me to design an individualized lesson plan for my students. I strive to make learning an adventurous journey, rather than a tedious task.
